Strategy / A few lines of fun writing to IT brothers during Covid

A few lines of fun writing to IT brothers during Covid
For the past few weeks, I have been working from home, the work is still the same, only the one that saves travel time, has an extra 1-2 hours a day to read, play, and reflect on life.
Due to the epidemic, I also live slower, go out less,  cook by myself instead of eating at a restaurant. Thanks to living slowly, I have time to think about miscellaneous things, so now I write these lines to confide in IT brothers for fun.
A few words in the article are just personal thoughts, not advice. Just think of it as drinking Corona beer while listening to me gossip!
I feel lucky to be in the IT industry
For a few days, reading online, everywhere, businesses are closed, people lose their jobs or reduce revenue, especially in the tourism, catering, and advertising industries.
Fortunately, I have not been… unemployed. Looking back, our IT industry can still do remote work. Therefore, in the short term, our work has not been affected.
Still, economic stagnation is certain. We will also face difficulties indirectly: the company is not profitable, the salary is difficult to increase, and it may be reduced; other companies are afraid to recruit people, difficult to change jobs; Freelance projects are also less.
Not to mention, many startups will be heavily affected during this period (transportation, education, tourism, etc.). The salary of IT brothers is very high, so it is easy to become the object of a cut when companies have difficulties, or … bankruptcy.
Should save extra income
Therefore, I advise you to work hard to save and have extra income.
I'm sure my devs are pretty good at saving things. Our career does not need to dress much, does not need social investment. Therefore, if you are sure that any brother is single, unmarried, he will probably save quite a bit.
In addition, having outside income will also help you worry less. In addition to the main job in the company, I also have a number of side income sources such as:
Play GameFi for money (Fairycat .net, DeFi Kingdoms .com, Axie Infinity .com,..)
-Run grab
-Taking pictures of sexy cosplay posted patreon…
-Advertising money from blog/ youtube/ fanpage
This amount is not much compared to salary, but if unemployed, it is enough for three meals a day and coffee. Personally, I always save at least 3-6 months of living expenses, so that if I lose my job unexpectedly (the boss fires, the company goes bankrupt, I quit the job…) I can still take it easy.
There's no such thing as a...stable life
The dev works in a huge company with thousands of employees, a high-paying, stable job. Now due to the epidemic, the company is looking for ways to cut back, so every day ... live in fear
Thinking back, sometimes we are so used to everyday life: going to work, chatting with colleagues, receiving salary, ... so it feels normal and boring.
Until we can't leave the house, we feel how much fun it is to go to work! Until our company goes out of business, how precious every month's salary is! Only when we get fever, cough and suspected of being infected with Covid, we realize how valuable and fragile health is!
Well, if you lose your freedom and your job, you can slowly get them back, only losing your health is a bit difficult to get back. Remember to protect yourself, wash your hands a lot, work in moderation, and exercise regularly.
That's it, some of my gossip is over! What about you, has your life, your acquaintances changed because of COVID? Remember to share in the comments!

Strategy / Re: Thinking Ahead (Next Phase...)

SotBD will be setting up in Stormlands, and if we'd like to continue the RP, I suggest we set up there and maybe be their medic unit.  They plan on going balls to the wall.  I think New Valaryians want to make a serious run in Riverlands, which they expect to be the new region.  Not sure where any of the other big alliances plan on setting up yet.

I think Tully will come out at the start of the phase or just before, so it would be a good time to take it easy on building camps and stockpile for phase 6 and a serious run at a level 20 camp.

So what would you suggest then as a target goal for this phase in camp level's?

Being SotBD medic unit sounds like it will open RP up for some great scenes and also give us another shot at Helping Hand.

I will be open to do whatever the group decides, but I must stress that i'd like to see clear goals on what we want to do going into the phase. Nod has said there will be no game mechanics changes http://www.disruptorbeam.com/forums/viewthread/13455/

So I would say lets start by agreeing on :

1: Our purposes this phase, i.e. medic unit, stockpile supplies, crafting for new phase

2. Types of camps we will have next phase ( I disagree that we need to wait for the phase to start to have a plan.)

3. Items people will craft, which include assignments. I know we have ppl that reincarnate, those that are, I think should let us know if they can dedicate to contribute basic units or cannot dedicate to contribute. I feel those members should be supported regardless of whether they can or cannot, but some type of organization should be made to get the information out in the open. If our small group is to compete we must get organized.

4. Stick to the plan and not add items to camps we are not upgrading. So with that said, maybe some changes to the MoTD could be suggested.
4a) No need to take up space on who won the AC challenges because thats what the AC Thread in the MB is for
4b)New thread in our MB about who's new to the group, so that we have space freed up
4c) It is one thing to add to camps unknowingly and is another to know and to still add to the camp anyway

What I think members would benefit most from reading MoTD is: Where camp levels should be, What items are needed to be stockpiled, what items are needed to be crafted and any actions that need to be taken for diplomacy. I know the main goal for KotWR is to have fun at AvA, but the only fun I have when I lose is at strip poker.

In order to keep it fun, participation in AvA should remain at will, but i've had chats with people that are ready to be organized as well as people that don't want to have a committed relationship. Both are fine by me and I wouldn't fault anyone for any amount of contribution, even zero.

Those are my thoughts moving forward to a new phase.

I'm continuing to craft all three basic units like traders, milita and eavesdroppers. As for next phase i'd like to pick one region and see if we can defend our position there. We saw the Iron Islands as a place where hostile actions compete. With the number of members we have, I think it would be best to stick to one region and move as a group, make goals for the phase and nail them.

If we go for a hostile reward then i'd suggest a camp for fight, steal and barter. We can have bonus to barter for leveling up the camps, fight for demoralizing and killing garrisons and of course steal.

if we go for a friendly reward then i'd suggest a camp for barter, aid and fight/harass. Aid as an incentive for people to barter with us or vice versa and of course a bonus for attack as there always alliances that seek to pick on a small number of players.

Is there anything I can start stockpiling for the next phase, since we've finished upgrading for this one? Have we deicded on our main action? Or are we waiting until the end of this phase to see if there are any changes?

Just thought I'd ask to get a head start! :)

And Then There Were None is often mentioned by people as their favorite Agatha Christie novel. It has been published under three different titles; in addition to the one that I assume you are referring to, it is also known as Ten Little Indians. There have been movies under both this title and the most common title. Christie also wrote the story as a play, but with a different ending; some of the movies use the novel ending, and some use the play ending.  Christie enjoyed using nursery rhyme references in some of her titles and novels.

This is one of the ones that I consider have really unusual twists (of course, all mysteries have some kind of twist!). Two others that have different unusual twists are Murder on the Orient Express (aka Murder on the Calais Coach) and The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. Some critics actually called foul on Roger Ackroyd, as they considered the way she turned convention on its head unfair.

One of the reasons a lot of Christie novels have multiple titles is that the American publishers chose to use a different title than the British publisher. In some cases, they thought there was a cultural reference that American readers wouldn't understand.  These days, most are published using the original British titles. My guess is that this is a result of the global economy and the ease of online shopping, so there wasn't much point any more.  I have a lot with the American titles, since I bought most of them back in the 70s and 80s.

I have only read one book by Agatha Christie. The book was called "Ten Little ****", but it seems to be renamed since as "And Then There Were None". Anyway I think that was a very good mystery story.

Does anyone here like The Wheel of Time books? I think they are pretty good fantasy, but if you are not a fan of many side plots and lots of characters (I think I read somewhere that there is about 2700 distinct named characters in the series!), maybe it is not for you. The story is quite massive and long, 13 books if I remember correctly.

Off topic / BACON!!!

Not sure if this is really OT, since bacon is such an integral part of the game for many of us! I thought we could use a thread to post bacon-related stuff in.

Anyway, I came across a recipe for bacon bread that I thought some might be interested in. I don't really cook, myself, but it looks easy enough that I probably could even do it. And it has cheese and ranch dressing in it, too!

Enjoy!!!
